Good morning, Villa fans. Welcome to your latest Aston Villa headlines on Friday, June 24, 2022.
The agents of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz met with AC Milan today to discuss a potential transfer, it has been said.
Luiz's Italian agents were said to be "present" at Casa Milan, the headquarters and offices of the Italian club. They reportedly met with officials from the club to talk about a possible move, with Luiz said to be "seriously considering" a switch.
The former Man City midfielder only has a year left on his contract at Villa Park and is a candidate to move on this summer. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, AC Milan is a likely destination with talks stepping up today. They say negotiations could "take off" in the coming days, though there have been no other reports to suggesting similar developments at this stage.
Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz 'doesn't intend to renew' his expiring contract at the club as he enters the final year of his deal, according to reports.
Douglas, 24, was signed by Villa upon their promotion back to the Premier League in 2019 and has been heavily linked with an exit from the Midlands club in recent months.
Jose Mourinho is believed to be an admirer of the Brazilian international as rumours regarding a possible transfer to Italian side AS Roma emerged in January and resurfaced in the summer transfer window. Corriere dello Sport via Sports Witness have claimed that Roma ‘continue to follow’ the situation of the 24-year-old. However, Villa have requested €35 million for the player which is 'considered excessive’ due to his expiring deal.
