Newcastle: £60m 'machine' would be 'dream signing' at St James Park

Newcastle United can make a “real statement signing” by landing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Reports in Italy suggest the Tyneside club are keen on the 23-year-old as Eddie Howe looks to bring in a new forward.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Newcastle have made it clear that they are prepared to make another move to sign Osimhen.

The 2021/22 campaign was a good one for Osimhen, who scored 18 goals in 32 appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s side.

Considering that, Napoli will not want to lose their talisman and risk regressing, with the Italian outfit finishing third in Serie A last term.

He would be more than that. As O’Rourke put it, Osimhen arriving at St James’ Park would be huge.

Over the last year, the former Lille man has ranked in the 96th percentile for non-penalty goals, the 96th for total shots and the 90th
