'We're looking for...' - Alan Myers reveals Everton transfer plan

That’s according to Alan Myers, who has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about all the potential incomings and outgoings at Goodison Park.

Frank Lampard steered the Toffees to safety having been drafted in at the end of January, taking over from Rafa Benitez and ahead of his first full season in the dugout it will be interesting to see how the young English coach goes about his business.

With the threat of Financial Fair Play regulations hanging over them the club will perhaps look to move on some of their bloated squad members but in terms of names arriving it appears that a move for James Tarkowski is edging closer.

The centre-back’s contract with Burnley expires at the end of the month and after 194 Premier League appearances it would be a great start to the window for the Blues to land a player of that experience on a free.

Indeed, Myers has revealed that that is likely to be Lampard’s approach in this window and they will aim to recruit from within the country.

Host Tony Scott highlighted the links to the likes of Billy Gilmour, Harry Winks and Conor Gallagher potentially coming to Everton this summer, and asked Myers who he thought the Toffees will be targeting ahead of the new campaign.

Myers said: “I think we’re looking for players similar to the people you’ve just mentioned. I think Frank will look at homegrown – you know, people who are already in and around the Premier League – possibly one or two from the Championship if there’s good deals to be had.”

Six Everton players will see their contracts expire at the end of June including Fabian Delph, Cenk Tosun and Asmir Begovic with a further seven entering the final 12 months of their Merseyside deals.
