Douglas Luiz U-turn made as path cleared for Aston Villa transfer
Here are your headlines...
Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer is a transfer target for up to 14 clubs this summer, according to reports.
Archer scored seven goals in 20 appearances for Preston North End in the second half of the last campaign, having left Villa on loan after scoring four goals in two Carabao Cup games and six in four EFL Trophy ties. More recently, the forward scored four goals in three appearances for England Under-21s.
And a whole host of Championship clubs, as well as teams in Germany, are said to be queuing up to sign Archer after his prolific 2021/22 campaign. Villa's Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion hold an interest, as well as Gerrard's former club Rangers, while Watford are also in the hunt.
Roma could be moving on from their interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to reports.
The Italian giants have been linked with an interest in the Brazilian international for most of the summer. Reports in Italy claim that Jose Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of the 24-year-old whose future looks uncertain due to him having just one year left on his deal at Villa Park.
It is said that Villa were demanding a fee of around €30-€35 million should they cash in on the player this summer. Should they not sell, then the club would risk losing him for nothing in 12 months' time.
