Arsenal: 'Something now happening' after £118m investment at the Emirates

Arsenal are building something special under the guidance of Mikel Arteta, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Gunners have made a fine start to the campaign and are currently top of the Premier League after five victories from their opening six matches.

Despite narrowly missing out on Champions League football after their collapse at the end of last season, Arteta’s side have recruited well by spending £118m, and dusted themselves down to quickly find their rhythm.

It could be argued that the north Londoners have been given a nice fixture list, with four of their six games coming against teams in the bottom half.

But to put that into perspective, the Gunners were beaten at Crystal Palace and Brentford last season, while they’re scored far more and conceded fewer than at this stage 12 months ago.

The going does get tough over the coming weeks, with games against Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea, which might give a more reliable insight into how much progression Arsenal have really made under Arteta.

Regardless, Sheth reckons that things are really coming together nicely at the Emirates Stadium and praised the board for continuously putting their trust into the Spaniard.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It just feels from an outsider looking in at Arsenal that something’s happening at that football club, in that the patience they’ve shown in Arteta, particularly when there was a lot of criticism.

“If you go back to the start of last season after they spent the most of any European club in that transfer window, and then started the season with those three defeats: the bad defeat against Brentford and the heavy defeat against Brentford as well.
