Arsenal 'set to target another Man City pair' and other transfer rumours

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly wanting to sign Manchester City's Julian Alvarez and Kyle Walker this summer.

Last year, Arteta raided his old club to bring Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to the Emirates Stadium. While both men proved to be hits in North London, it was not enough to halt City's reign of dominance at the top of the Premier League.

Now, according to El Nacional, Alvarez and Walker are both on Arteta's wishlist. The former is unlikely to make the switch to Arsenal though after signing a new deal at the Etihad in March which will keep him at the club until 2028.

The Argentine managed 17 goals in all competitions during the last campaign despite finding opportunities harder to come by thanks to Erling Haaland's sensational form. Meanwhile Walker is a stronger candidate for joining the Gunners.

Pep Guardiola admitted last season the 33-year-old may struggle to find a role in Guardiola's new system which sees the full-back double as an inverted defensive midfielder. However, according to talkSPORT, Walker is unlikely to be going anywhere.

The radio station's journalist Alex Crook revealed the England international had been the interest of both his ex-club Sheffield United and Bayern Munich but the chances of him actually leaving are slim. He explained: "They [Sheffield United] have budget limitations this summer, I think only about £20m to spend this summer, which isn’t a lot for a newly promoted team.

"They have an interest in Kyle Walker but it looks like he’ll probably stay at Manchester City now." City are in no rush to sell Walker especially after he enjoyed another positive campaign at the Etihad.
