Manchester United 'identify Rasmus Hojlund alternative' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly ready to move on to Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus should they fail in their efforts to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta this summer.

Reds boss Erik ten Hag is keen to bring in a new centre-forward this summer and has had a list of targets drawn up for months. As previously revealed by the Manchester Evening News, United have been monitoring Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

However, with both likely to command sizeable fees and United working within a strict budget this summer due to Financial Fair Play concerns it appears neither is likely to join Ten Hag's side. United are working under the assumption that Spurs will not sanction the sale of Kane to a Premier League rival despite him being in the last year of his contract and so have moved on to other targets.

That has led to Hojlund being named their primary target with John Murtough holding talks with the Serie A club over a move following Ten Hag's video calls with the player towards the end of last season. But with the Italians proving tricky negotiators an agreement over a transfer fee for the Denmark international is yet to be reached.

And according to The Mirror, that could lead United to signing Kudus from Ajax. The Ghanaian played under Ten Hag in the Netherlands and has been one of the other players on their list for months. Benfica's Goncalo Ramos and Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani have also been monitored.
