Angus Gunn sparks Scotland keeper panic as Norwich City star 'sent for a scan' amid rising injury fear

Scotland number one Angus Gunn will be sent for a scan after picking up an injury for Norwich City.

With Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon sidelined, Gunn has established himself as Steve Clarke's first-choice goalkeeper during the successful Euro 2024 qualification and is almost guaranteed a spot on the flight to Germany. After returning to club football following the international break, Gunn limped off with an issue in his upper leg during the Canaries' 3-2 defeat to Leeds United.

Clarke now faces a nervy wait to find out the extent of the injury ahead of next month's double header against Georgia and Norway. Carrow Road boss Daniel Farke admits he is uncertain over the length of time the 27-year-old will miss at this stage. The knock could lead for young Scot Jon McCracken being recalled from his loan spell at Accrington Stanley.

Farke told the Eastern Daily Press: “It looks like a muscle injury. How serious it is? I can't say. We have to see.

"For sure, he will have a scan on Monday. But obviously it was serious enough in this game that he wasn't able to continue. With Jon McCracken we have him on a weekly loan so we can call him back, but I haven't thought about that (at this stage)."

The injury problems are mounting for Scotland ahead of the November internationals. Both Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson are set to absent from the squad.
