Amad sends emotional message after making Manchester United comeback

Amad Diallo says Manchester United's game against Nottingham Forest was 'a special day' for him despite his side suffering defeat.

A successful loan spell at Sunderland last season had United supporters excited about a potential breakout campaign under Erik ten Hag. However, the winger picked up a knee injury on the club’s pre-season US tour.

Amad has been forced to watch from the sidelines as youngsters like Kobbie Mainoo and Hannibal Mejbri made a first-team impact. But when Antony appeared to pick up a hamstring injury shortly after half-time at the City Ground, it gave Amad a chance to make his return following several months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

But the 21-year-old, who could end up costing the Reds around £37million if he meets all of the add-on clauses included in United's agreement to sign the Ivorian from Atalanta, now has the chance to make an impression. The right flank has proven a problem area for Ten Hag this season, with Antony struggling for form and Jadon Sancho banished from the squad altogether.

His 40-minute comeback gave fans a glimpse of more to come as he was a rare highlight in an otherwise dismal evening at Nottingham Forest. Amad has been linked with another Championship loan move in the January transfer window but could find himself tasked with pulling United out of the mire in the coming months.
