Barcelona star Ronald Araujo makes Manchester United comment in transfer claim

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has admitted to being aware of Manchester United transfer links during the summer.

United's only centre-back signing during the previous transfer window was Jonny Evans, who returned to Old Trafford eight years on from leaving the club during his first spell.

One player in this position who has consistently been rumoured to be a target is Barcelona's Araujo, who has made clear he was aware of "talk" regarding a summer switch.

Commenting publicly on such links, the Uruguay international said: "In every transfer window there are rumours of all kinds. It's normal. The only thing I can say is that I'm focused on the team and also on this club. I'm comfortable here and I always try to give everything for this shirt.

"There are always rumours that appear in all markets. There was talk in the summer about Manchester United, but I am focused on Barca. And I will always give one hundred percent."

Araujo currently has two years remaining on his Barcelona contract, having first joined the Catalan giants in 2018, and has made 18 appearances in all competitions for his current employers. A starting defender when fit and available, the 24-year-old has seen his influence grow within the team and has captained the club on multiple occasions due to being third in line behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Sergi Roberto in the existing leadership group.
