Alfredo Morelos sees life after Rangers landscape rocked as Santos boss SACKED 24 hours after striker's debut

Alfredo Morelos' debut at Santos has been followed by the sacking of the Brazilian side's manager just 24 hours afterwards.

The former Rangers man is looking to settle in to life after Ibrox and vowed that his goals would help the struggling side to get out of their form slump. But their damning 3-0 defeat at home to Cruzerio was the scene of a disappointing debut for Morelos, who left Rangers after a six-year spell in May and spent the summer in search of a new club. In his Santos unveiling, the Colombian reckoned he had his found his new home after joining pal Ryan Kent in heading for the Ibrox exit.

But the boss who brought to him Santos, Diego Aguirre, has been unceremoniously dumped after the poor string of results, as the Brazilian's now search for their fourth new boss of the season. Santos are teetering at the top end of the relegation zone but are winless in their previous three games after Morelos joined the outfit in the final third of their campaign.

A club statement read: "By decision of the Management Committee and the football coordinator, coach Diego Aguirre no longer commands the Santos Futebol Clube professional team. The coach was informed of the decision by technical coordinator Alexandre Gallo, on Friday afternoon (15). The assistant coaches, Juan Verzeri and Juan Andres Iraola, and the physical trainers Fernando Piñatares and Ignácio Piñatares also leave their positions.

"Santos FC thanks you for the services provided and wishes you good luck in new challenges. In the match against Bahia, on Monday (18), Marcelo Fernandes leads the team on an interim basis."
