Albion Rovers boss blasts 'naive' side after Broomhill cut down three-goal lead

Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark admits their 3-2 win over Broomhill on Tuesday was difficult to enjoy, and blasted his ‘naive’ side.

Clark was happy with the win, which moved the Coatbridge club up from 12th to ninth in the Lowland League, but felt the win should have been much more comfortable.

Rovers were 3-0 up and seemingly cruising inside 26 minutes, with goals from Paul Kennedy, Adam Fernie and Alan Reid.

But Finlay Corrigan pulled a goal back five minutes from the interval, and Alex Fairlie provided a nervy finish with a 75th-minute strike.

“At 3-2 they were throwing everything at it, and still I thought we did OK, but we should have finished it off.

“We should have been safer with the result.

“I’m happy with the three points, but I know we have to be better and we’re capable of being better.

“We need to help the guys a wee bit more, try to find a solution to why we’re losing simple goals.”

Rovers are next in action when they host Dunipace in the South Challenge Cup on September 14, and Clark
