Who will win Scotland or Poland? Our writers deliver their predictions ahead of Nations League opener

Scotland are back in action as they look to give the Tartan Army some Hampden cheer after their disappointing Euro 2024 campaign.

Steve Clarke's men did brilliant in the quest to qualify for the finals in Germany but the competition ended at the group stage for the Dark Blues after a hammering by hosts Germany in the opening game before a further defeat to Hungary in a must-win final group outing with a draw against Switzerland sandwiched in between.

The Scotland fans had a big summer party and earned many plaudits from the locals and fellow travellers off the pitch but the performance couldn't be repeated on it with skipper Andy Robertson and the squad determined to earn the love of the loyal Tartan Army back starting with the home clash with Poland in the Nations League opener. But can they put their current poor run of form and results behind them in Glasgow's south side? The top writers at Record Sport have delivered their views.

This is the beginning of the next chapter for Steve Clarke and possible the final one. He could do with a positive result from the most winnable game of the section but with a weakened squad, it’s highly likely to have to settle for a point at home against the Poles.

Scotland 1 Poland 1

Scotland need a result - and probably a win - to restore the belief of the Tartan Army. But this is the start of a real tough run of games and I can only see a nervy draw at best in front of an expectant Hampden. Both sides are needing pick-me-ups after poor Euros. Scotland have the players to cause the Poles problems but I fear about our limitations at the back being exposed.

Scotland 1 Poland 1

In theory this should be the easiest clash in the section, but in reality it will be far from a breeze.
