Airdrie goalkeeper recovering in hospital after concussion in Inverness Caley Thistle clash

Airdrie goalkeeper Josh Rae will miss upcoming games after he was taken to hospital with a concussion on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was one of two worrying injuries for the Diamonds in the 0-0 draw at Inverness, as striker Gabby McGill also hobbled off in the first half.

Rae was injured while saving at Aribim Pepple’s feet and was withdrawn due to concussion, with player-coach David Hutton taking over for the last 20 minutes.

An update has now followed, with the club announcing Rae remains in hospital but is doing well.

The statement read: "Following a head injury sustained in Saturday’s match at Inverness, goalkeeper Josh Rae is recovering well in hospital with the full support of the club and management staff.

"Further updates will follow as necessary, and we look forward to seeing our #1 back between the sticks as soon as possible."

Hutton could get the nod for Saturday's clash at home to Arbroath, although the last time Rae was ruled out earlier in the season, the Diamonds managed to secure an emergency loan by bringing in Hibernian goalkeeper Murray Johnson to the side.
