Abbey Vale maintain 100 per cent record with win over Mid Annandale

Abbey Vale’s 100 per cent record in the South of Scotland League remains intact after a 4-0 win at Mid Annandale on Saturday.

Lewis McKenna’s penalty gave Vale the lead, Dylan Bruce doubling the advantage before the break.

McKenna scored another penalty in the second half with sub Jardin Brown completing the scoring.

Vale manager Allan Clark, said: “It’s always a hard place to go and we had to work to get the points, they made it hard for us. Looking at the result it was comfy enough in the end but we’re delighted to get the points.

“It probably wasn’t a 2-0 first half, we could quite easily have found ourselves chasing the game at half-time as we weren’t at our best. The second half we made it more comfy.

“It’s not always going to be there the performance, sometimes there are gritty games and it’s about getting the three points and that’s what Saturday was like.”

Vale beat Wigtown 3-0 in the League Cup on Wednesday night and on Saturday head along the A75 to face Stranraer.

Clark added: “It’s going to be very tough, there’s no getting away from the fact.

“They’re unbeaten in the league and Allan Jenkins always has his teams well disciplined and organised.

“They’re always a threat, especially at home, so we’ll need to be at our best to get anything at all.”
