Kris Boyd claims Celtic SUBS could make up half of Rangers team as Ibrox hero still boiling with derby rage

Kris Boyd reckons Rangers are so weak that almost half of their starting XI could be replaced by Celtic SUBS.

The former Ibrox strike hero delivered a scathing verdict on his old club’s current situation as the post mortem into Sunday’s derby defeat continued. Boyd warned Philippe Clement’s current crop that they will have to step up in the face of a huge backlash following the 3-0 loss at Parkhead which leaves them trailing their fierce rivals by five points at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Boyd was damning after the game and told the Gers flops they will have to accept criticism, although hit out at those who turned up to abuse James Tavernier and boss and Co when they returned to Ibrox Stadium on Sunday following the match.

Celtic brought brought on £11million club record signing Arne Engels and £9m man Adam Idah in the game and Boyd told Sky Sports: “Jack Butland has been an England international and last season you would have had him ahead of Joe Hart because he was coming to the end but Kasper Schmeichel has come in and hasn’t conceded a goal. On current form, the Celtic starting XI is one that not one Rangers player would get into. Celtic look far superior all over the pitch and if you want to rub salt into the wound then you’d say that four of five of the Celtic BENCH would walk into the Rangers starting team.

“The fans have had enough. Rangers need to start winning games of football. It’s not been good enough and they’re going to have to improve. The message would be that you’re going to come in for criticism at a big club. I don’t agree with fans turning up at Ibrox hurling abuse because that isn’t needed and won’t help anyone.
