West Ham now 'very close' to 'completing' £35.5m signing at London Stadium

West Ham United are ‘very close’ to completing the acquisition of Gianluca Scamacca and the Sassuolo striker could be due to fly into the capital today before signing on the dotted line at the London Stadium, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor. Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola and Flynn Downes have joined the Hammers since the transfer window opened for business last month, but Scamacca is set to become the latest addition to David Moyes’ squad.

West Ham only have one striker on their books at the moment, with that being Michail Antonio, but it seems as though that is about to change.

That is because the Hammers have agreed a £30.5million fee with Sassuolo for the transfer of Scamacca, although the outlay could rise by a further £5million thanks to potential add-ons.

According to MailOnline, West Ham are hoping to get the big-money deal over the line within the next 24 hours. The report suggests Scamacca, who is a seven-cap Italy international, still has to undergo a medical before putting pen-to-paper.
