West Ham United have ‘real interest’ in Burnley defender Charlie Taylor as manager David Moyes looks for further reinforcements, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The Hammers have already brought in Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd and Flynn Downes this summer with several more fresh faces expected to arrive at the London Stadium.
Taylor has been a fantastic servant to the Clarets since arriving from Leeds United back in 2017, racking up 148 appearances across all competitions since then.
However, following Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League last season, they have embarked on a mass clearout of their first-team squad.
Experienced campaigners such as James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Erik Pieters, Phil Bardsley and Aaron Lennon have departed, allowing new manager Vincent Kompany to bring in his own players.
And now it seems as though Taylor could be the next player to be shown the exit door at Turf Moor.
David Ornstein of The Athletic has revealed that Burnley have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign left-back Ian Maatsen on a season-long loan, paving the way for Taylor to seek pastures new.
Jones has informed GiveMeSport that West Ham are ‘looking for fresh options’ on the left-hand-side of defence and that Taylor is a player of interest to them.
He told GMS: “We know West Ham are looking for fresh options on the left side of defence, and I’m told they have real interest in Burnley’s Charlie Taylor.
“It’s an especially interesting one to crop up because Burnley have been looking to sign a left-back on loan.”
Taylor, who has two years remaining on his current £47,000-per-week contract, has bags of Premier League experience under his belt.
The 28-year-old made 30 appearances in the top-flight last term as Burnley
