West Ham now 'very close' to 'completing' £35.5m signing at London Stadium

West Ham United are ‘very close’ to completing the acquisition of Gianluca Scamacca and the Sassuolo striker could be due to fly into the capital today before signing on the dotted line at the London Stadium, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola and Flynn Downes have joined the Hammers since the transfer window opened for business last month, but Scamacca is set to become the latest addition to David Moyes’ squad.

West Ham only have one striker on their books at the moment, with that being Michail Antonio, but it seems as though that is about to change.

That is because the Hammers have agreed a £30.5million fee with Sassuolo for the transfer of Scamacca, although the outlay could rise by a further £5million thanks to potential add-ons.

According to MailOnline, West Ham are hoping to get the big-money deal over the line within the next 24 hours.

The report suggests Scamacca, who is a seven-cap Italy international, still has to undergo a medical before putting pen-to-paper.

While negotiations are still ongoing over personal terms, it is understood that West Ham have already booked the frontman’s medical, suggesting they are not expecting any problems when it comes to meeting Scamacca’s demands.

Taylor understands that West Ham are edging closer to unveiling Scamacca as their latest summer signing.

The journalist believes the Hammers are hoping to see the 23-year-old land in London, ahead of completing the switch, today.

When asked whether West Ham are on the cusp of sealing Scamacca’s arrival, Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: “That’s very close. I expect that to be completed in the coming days.

“The deal is already in place with Sassuolo and it’s all about the personal terms agreement
