West Ham United star Flynn Downes has ‘got to convince David Moyes’ that he is worthy of being given a chance to showcase his talent in the Premier League, according to journalist Dean Jones. Downes was among a host of fresh faces to join the Hammers during the summer transfer window as the club forked out more than £160million on securing reinforcements.
Downes made the switch to West Ham after a £12million deal was struck with Championship side Swansea City in July. The east Londoners hijacked Crystal Palace’s move for the central midfielder after the Eagles initially thought they had won the race for his signature.
Downes revealed joining West Ham, the club he has supported all his life, was a ‘dream’ and his new boss, Moyes, was delighted to secure his services as he has ‘an awful lot of good attributes’.
Although the 23-year-old has found his opportunities limited in the Premier League, with him only making a late cameo appearance on the opening day of the season against Manchester City, he has made an impact in the Europa Conference League.
