West Ham United could benefit from the current international break with David Moyes offered more time to bed in his new signings at the London Stadium, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth. Moyes was not afraid to splash the cash in the summer transfer window, spending more than £160 million on new recruits, but he has endured a tough start to the season.
Eight players have been signed by Moyes since the end of the 2021-22 campaign, including a club-record deal for midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian moved from Lyon after an initial £37 million transfer fee was agreed and a five-year contract was signed. The attacking unit was further bolstered by the arrival of striker Gianluca Scamacca for £30 million and versatile winger Maxwell Cornet, while Flynn Downes made the move from Swansea City to add greater depth to the midfield.
Nayef Aguerd moved early in the window from Rennes for £30 million but, after he picked up an injury in pre-season, Moyes was forced to sign another centre-back in the form of Paris Saint-Germain’s Thilo Kehrer.
