Wayne Rooney gives verdict on takeover saga and calls for the Glazers to leave Manchester United

Wayne Rooney believes now is the right time for the Glazers to leave Manchester United. The former United frontman admits he saw significant on-field improvements during manager Erik ten Hag's first season at the club, though the off-field issues remain a worry.

United brought Champions League football back to Old Trafford after finishing third in the Premier League last term. Ten Hag is now looking to build on that, with Mason Mount snapped up from Chelsea and United on the verge of signing Andre Onana.

In the background, though, is the seemingly never-ending takeover saga. The Glazer family announced their intention to 'explore strategic alternatives' for the club last November.

There have been two leading candidates ever since: Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
