Tottenham Hotspur ‘know’ Anthony Gordon is not on the verge of signing a new long-term contract with Everton and, as a result, a January move to Hotspur Way could be on the cards, according to journalist Paul Brown. Spurs have gone into the international break sitting just one point off the Premier League’s summit, but head coach Antonio Conte will have the opportunity to bolster his squad when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
Gordon has enjoyed a productive start to the season, scoring two goals in seven appearances, and Everton are keen to tie their academy product down to a new contract.
According to The Sun, the Toffees have opened talks with the winger and are willing to offer a deal which would see him earn six-times more than his current salary.
The report suggests Everton, who fended off bids from Chelsea during the summer transfer window as they valued the seven-cap England under-21 international at £60million, may have to agree to a £75million release clause in a bid to ward off January interest.
