Holiday-makers who still use a red passport have been warned to check their document before they go away. That's because every country has different entry rules, which are easy to forget.

One of them being passport validity rules. One such passport rule applied by a large share of world countries states that a passport must be valid for another six months before its holder departs for international travel.

This is known as the 'six-month validity rule', reports the Liverpool Echo. This rule is especially important if you still have a red passport, which are no longer being issued after the country left the EU meaning all red passports are due to expire in the coming years.
