Gran, 84, who married Egyptian toyboy, 37, issues dating site warning

An 84-year-old grandmother who married an Egyptian man 46 years younger than her has issued a warning about entering into romantic relationships online.

Iris Jones hit headlines when she appeared on ITV's This Morning to discuss her relationship with 37-year-old Mohamed Ibriham. The pair met on Facebook before Iris jetted out to Egypt to marry him in November 2020.

But by last year, the two had separated. At the time she told Closer magazine: "I never expected to fall in love with someone 46 years younger than me, but I did. I adored everything about Mohamed".

She said everything was great before the relationship broke down due to constant arguments, the Liverpool ECHO reports.

Now, in a new Facebook post, Iris has issued a stark warning to anyone who uses dating websites. She said: "A warning to all vulnerable women online, chatting to scammers and con-artists, thinking they are messaging genuine males on legitimate dating sites.

"Be aware that they are only interested in getting their filthy paws on your money and will sweet-talk you for weeks, or even months in order to achieve their goal. I, myself, have been targeted by four scammers in the last few months and regard myself now as a competent scam hunter!"

Iris went on to say she had sent a "final email" to the scammer who she claimed had been trying to con her out of thousands of pounds. She added: "I have really enjoyed being the puppet master, having you dance to my tune. It only remains for me to say that I am delighted that you exited my life EMPTY-HANDED!!!! Tootle-pip, sunshine."
