Struggling Steven Gerrard is set to suffer a double transfer blow at Al-Ettifaq with a pair of top targets edging away from joining him in Saudi.

The former Rangers and Aston Villa boss wants his Liverpool captain successor Jordan Henderson to link-up in the Middle East, however, the England international is reportedly reluctant to leave Anfield – according to the Daily Mail.

And that blow comes fresh off the news Wilfried Zaha is unlikely to join Gerrard, with the same outlet stated the Crystal Palace free agent was seeking an extra £7.5million to consider a possible move.

And the money involved to head to Saudi appears to be a pertinent question for Al-Ettifaq with Gerrard's former assistant Michael Beale playfully stating financial packages would be pivotal if he moved for any of his former stars in Glasgow with Scott Wright .

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Wednesday imposed a life ban on five former Olympians for trying to form a parallel body. PHF President Tariq Bugti said that former Olympian and internationals Nasir Ali, Khalid Bashir, Saleem Nazim, Abbas Ali and Haider Ali had been banned for life. "The PHF found them guilty of trying to run a parallel federation, stealing PHF records and using funds from a PHF account without approval," Bugti said.
