Steven Gerrard targets Moussa Dembele transfer as former Rangers boss moves in on Celtic hero

dailyrecord.co.uk

Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is keen on Celtic hero Moussa Dembele as his mammoth Al-Ettifaq rebuild takes shape. The Liverpool icon is also eyeing Anfield skipper Jordan Henderson but the free-scoring striker who became a free agent after leaving Lyon last month is on his radar.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs in the English Premier League but Gerrard is aiming to convince him his future lies in Saudi, with a host of the world's best players heading to the Middle East.

Dembele left Celtic for £19.7m in 2019 and established himself as Lyon's main before an ill-fated final season where he was reduced to a back-up role behind Alexandre Lacazette.

But Gerrard is sweet on the man who departed Glasgow weeks into his Ibrox reign as the focal point of his new look side. Fabrizio Romano states the forward is weighing up options in both Europe and Saudi Arabia.
