Steven Gerrard 'lined up' by Leicester as ex Rangers boss set for Brendan Rodgers replacement chance
They used to be rivals on either side of the Glasgow divide. But now Steven Gerrard could find himself filling Brendan Rodgers’ shoes at Leicester.
The Foxes are on the hunt for a new boss following their relegation from the English Premier League. Former Celtic boss Rodgers left the East Midlands club by mutual consent in April as the board took measures to try and avoid the drop.
Dean Smith, who Gerrard replaced at Aston Villa, was appointed until the end of the season but couldn’t keep them up. Now the former Rangers boss could be hot on Smith’s heels for a second time, with the Sun reporting that the Liverpool legend is in with a “good chance” of taking over at the King Power Stadium.
Gerrard has been out of work since October 2022 when Villa pulled the trigger on him less than a year into the gig as they slid down the table.
