Sheffield Wednesday remain hopeful of signing Hull City forward Mallik Wilks. Yorkshire Live understands the Owls are still in dialogue with the Championship club over Wilks as Darren Moore looks to further strengthen his forward line before the new season gets under way.
A deal was said to be edging closer to completion after Wilks was reportedly spotted in Sheffield last month. Wilks is said to be keen on a summer switch to Hillsborough and is believed to have discussed personal terms with Moore's side.
A two-year deal was thought to be on the table and a transfer fee of £200,000 mooted. But Hull City vice-chairman Tan Kesler said the Owls' offer was "not enough to consider" and that Wednesday would have to go back in with an improved bid if they are to prise Wilks away from Humberside.
Speaking on BBC Radio Humberside, Kesler said: “They have a genuine interest but Mallik is someone who has had his good days with us.
