Sheffield Wednesday expect Michael Ihiekwe and Michael Smith to be fit to take part in their final pre-season friendly against Wigan Athletic.

The duo sat-out the Owls' 2-0 home defeat to Rayo Vallecano. Smith has played no part in Wednesday's last two warm-up fixtures.

The Owls, who conclude their pre-season programme with a trip to Wigan on Saturday, face Portsmouth in their league opener on Saturday, July 30.

Boss Darren Moore has allayed fears over the fitness of Ihiekwe and Smith, saying: "Both players are fine. Both had a little bit of tightness so I said 'no, you're not playing.' "Michael Ihiekwe went out and trained in the warm up and I felt that was enough.
