Desperate football fans are creating petitions to try and stop Manchester City ace Erling Haaland. Supporters across the country have been left stunned by the 22-year-old’s transition to life in the Premier League.

In just 13 appearances across all competitions, the City talisman - who arrived from Borussia Dortmund in May for €60million - has bagged 20 goals to cement his status as Europe’s most prolific striker.

Haaland scored against Southampton on Saturday afternoon to move seven strikes clear of Harry Kane - who also scored at the weekend - in the Golden Boot race.

Astonishingly, the Norwegian is just eight goals behind last year’s joint winners Mohammed Salah and Son Heung-min… with 29 games left to play.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark: The Manchester City juggernaut ground to a halt in the unlikeliest of places on Tuesday. FC Copenhagen, a team languishing in the bottom half of the Danish league, became the first team to stop City from scoring this season as a Champions League group match overshadowed by early video-review decisions ended in a 0-0 draw. One of those VAR calls resulted in a red card for City left back Sergio Gomez in the 30th minute for pulling back Hákon Arnar Haraldsson as the last man, harming the visitors attacking ambitions at the atmospheric Parken Stadium.
Erling Haaland’s Manchester City contract reportedly has a release clause of €200m, which can be activated from 2024. According to The Athletic, clubs will be able to sign the striker, should they meet the figure in two years, despite Pep Guardiola having dismissed such claims. Ad Haaland signed a five-year deal to join City in the summer from Borussia Dortmund for £51.2 million and has been the star of the Premier League season so far.
