Real Madrid took to social media to express their surprise that Manchester City were named Club of the Year at this year's Ballon d'Or awards instead of them.

Los Blancos were widely tipped to scoop the prize after securing a La Liga and Champions League double last season. Madrid then went on to win the Champions League for a record 14th time, overcoming the odds to beat Liverpool 1-0 in Paris. The win capped off an extraordinary run through the knockout rounds; they eliminated Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and City having trailed in all three ties.
