Philippe Clement concedes Rangers fan fury runs deeper than Celtic backlash as Ibrox shambles thrown into melting pot

Bullish Philippe Clement insists that he has met "very positive" Rangers fans since the defeat to Celtic - as he threw the Ibrox lockout into the mix as a reason for the backlash following the defeat.

The Light Blues will get back to league duty against Dundee United this weekend and will look to get back to winning ways after being steamrolled by Brendan Rodgers' side in their last outing in Glasgow's east end - with the Hoops already holding a five point advantage over their rivals at the summit of the Scottish Premiership with just four games played.

The 3-0 loss at Celtic Park was the breaking point for some Rangers supporters with Clement, captain James Tavernier and the rest of the squad being confronted on the steps of Ibrox after the game.

But the Belgian boss insists that there are a number of fans that understand that this is a period of transition for the first-team squad - and have shown him support in Glasgow since derby day defeat.
