Legend Peter Schmeichel was pining for Parkhead on an epic Champions League night after being stuck at the “absolutely dead” Etihad instead – as he admitted he can’t wait to join the Celtic legions for their next fixture away to German giants Borussia Dortmund.
The former Manchester United and Denmark goalkeeper and father of Hoops shot-stopper Kasper was working as a pundit at another of his ex clubs – Manchester City’s drab goalless draw against Inter Milan in their opening fixture.
Schmeichel branded the game boring and slammed the soulless atmosphere at the home of the English Premier League champions before revealing that broadcaster CBS had agreed to let him cover Brendan Rodgers’ side’s next game at the Signal Iduna Park, where Dortmund’s famous ‘Yellow Wall’ helped create one of the most intimidating atmospheres on the Continent.
However, the 60-year-old knows Parkhead gives that a run for its money on big European nights such as Wednesday when the Hoops rattled five past Slovan Bratislava to sit second in the new-look 36-team league behind Bayern Munich.
