A pensioner in his 80s is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a cyclist. Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Chorley New Road in Bolton this morning.
The air ambulance was also seen to land close to the scene of the collision, near the Beehive roundabout. The injured man was rushed to hospital and remains in a 'serious' condition, Greater Manchester Police said.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward, as their investigation continues. A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 9.50am today (Sunday 11 June 2023) officers were called to reports that a cyclist had collided with a pedestrian on Chorley New Road. "Officers and colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service attended and took the injured pedestrian, a man in his 80s, to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Police are now appealing for people who may have witnessed the collision to come forward." Detective Constable Shaun Whittaker, from GMP’s Bolton District, said: “We are asking for anyone who who may have seen the incident to please get in touch.
