A man was left seriously injured after being hit by a lorry on the Woodhead Pass. The crash happened on the A628 - one of the main routes between Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire - in Tintwistle just after 12pm on Friday (June 16).
The road was shut off both ways by police. The man, a pedestrian, was taken to hospital from the scene. He suffered serious injuries. It was reopened at around 5.15pm. In a statement, a Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on the A628 in Tintwistle just after 12pm on Friday 16 June.
One man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. "The road has been closed in both directions between the A616 Flouch roundabout and the A57 Gun Inn." Read more of today's top stories here READ NEXT:
