Ireland have a chance of winning another medal in the Paris Olympics when they compete in the Women's 4x400 metres final. Ireland finished third in their semi-final on Friday, behind Jamacia and Netherlands, to earn an automatic qualifying spot in their first ever Olympic final.

Sophie Becker, Phil Healy, Kelly McGrory and Sharlene Mawdsley completed the race in a time of 3:25.05 , who will be boosted by the return of Rhasidat Adeleke.

Adeleke confirmed after finishing fourth in the 400m final she will be competing in the final. The 4x400 relay team recorded a time of 3:22.71 from the European final in June where they claimed silver.

The final gets underway at 8:14 on Saturday night at the Stade De France. The USA have won every women's 4x400m relay at the Olympics since 1996 and look set to win their eighth straight title as they looked particularly impressive, qualifying more than three seconds ahead of Britain.
