Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Luke Shaw. Erik ten Hag has favoured new signing Tyrell Malacia to Shaw at left-back this season.

The England international has not started a game for United since the bruising 4-0 defeat to Brentford, where Malacia replaced him at half-time.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are now keeping tabs on Shaw as they look to bolster their defensive options. The report claims that Eddie Howe's side view the United defender as an upgrade on Matt Targett and Dan Burn, two players who have both played at left-back for Newcastle so far this season. Elsewhere, Italian outlet Calciomercato claim (via TEAMtalk) that United are stepping up their efforts to sign Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.
