Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop is in talks to join League One side Wycombe Wanderers on loan in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old shone while with League Two side Mansfield last season, and the Manchester Evening News understands United were keen for him to play in a higher division at his next club.

Bishop made 53 appearances for the Stags as their season ended with a 3-0 defeat to Port Vale in the League Two play-off final and he has been attracting plenty of interest from EFL clubs all summer. READ MORE: Anthony Martial might have a new Manchester United role under Erik ten Hag Former manager Nigel Clough admitted he would have 'loved' to get Bishop back on loan with Mansfield if possible, but he is instead poised to join Wycombe, who suffered their own play-off heartbreak when they lost 2-0 to Sunderland in the League One final last month.

Gareth Ainsworth's side have been searching for a new goalkeeper ever since last season's No.1 David Stockdale rejected a new deal to sign for Sheffield Wednesday instead.
