MotoGP Valencia: Quartararo ‘not stressing about the title’

Fabio Quartararo may look set to relinquish his MotoGP crown this weekend as Valencia hosts the 2022 season finale but the Monster Energy Yamaha rider claims he’s remaining chilled. Having fought from 12th on the Sepang grid, Quartararo banished the demons of three non-score finishes in four races by claiming a hard-fought podium in the Malaysian Grand Prix last time out.

With 23 points now splitting him from title-rival Pecco Bagnaia, a win is the 23-year-old’s only chance to keep the championship hopes alive - that and a non-score from his Italian opponent.

The Frenchman secured second on his last visit to Circuit Ricardo Tormo in 2021 and with confidence in his returning form, he’s determined to end the 2022 season on a high, regardless of the overall outcome and despite the broken finger he’s still nursing from the flyaways. “We had a good race in Malaysia,” Quartararo confirmed ahead of the final round. “I really enjoyed it, and it was nice to be back on the podium again.“Winning the championship will be very difficult now.

Of course, I will give my 100 per cent as always, but I‘m not going to stress too much about the championship title. “It‘s the final GP of the season, and I want to enjoy it and end it with a good result.”
