Huge puddles could be seen forming on the floor as members of the store whipped out their phones to begin filming, with others seen attempting to dodge the falling water.

One shopper told the Manchester Evening News the incident unfolded at around 7pm. Roads also flooded elsewhere on Monday, including in Salford, as video footage showed the moment drivers waded through waterlogged following the sudden heavy downpour.

The hot weather also gave way to the rain, thunder and lightning just as Manchester City's treble winning parade was getting underway, leaving thousands soaked.
