Met Office temperatures will drop as 'cold Arctic air' moves across UK

The Met Office said temperatures will drop this week as an area of low pressure moves across the UK and towards Europe. Forecasters have warned this will lead to cold Arctic air and northerly winds, which will lead to below-average temperatures and and down the country.

Temperatures across the UK, including in Greater Manchester, will drop to just 2c overnight on Wednesday and Thursday. The latest Met Office weather radar also shows the possibility of snow falling in the Scottish mountains. They said next to the weather map: "It will be turning colder mid-week as the area of low pressure currently across the UK moves away towards the continent This will open the door to colder northerly winds bringing below average temperatures for most by Thursday".

Meanwhile, a yellow weather warning for heavy showers and thunderstorms is in place for areas of southern England on Tuesday.
