Liverpool make £45m Matheus Nunes transfer their 'priority'

Liverpool are set to begin 'formal negotiations' with Sporting CP over the transfer of Matheus Nunes, according to a report in Portugal.

The midfielder is said to be a priority for Jurgen Klopp in the summer window. The likes of Manchester City and Chelsea have also reportedly been watching the 23-year-old.

But according to Correio da Manha, Liverpool are keen to make a move ahead of their Premier League rivals. Sporting are reportedly looking for a fee in the region of £45m for Nunes.

Liverpool were interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni earlier in the window. However, the France international opted to join Real Madrid from Monaco in a deal worth around £85m.
