Kent's Zak Crawley named in 15-strong England Test squad for Pakistan tour

Zak Crawley has been selected in England’s 15-strong Test squad for their tour of Pakistan. The Kent opener keeps his place and will be looking to add to the 28 Test caps he already has.

The news comes after Crawley, 24, this week also was handed another annual central contract with England for 2022/23. Managing director for England men's cricket and former Kent captain Rob Key said: “We are looking forward to touring Pakistan as a Test team for the first time since 2005. “It will be a historic tour and a compelling series against a good side. “The selectors have picked a squad for the conditions we can expect in Pakistan.

There is a strong blend of youth and experience and players who will adapt well to the types of pitches we are likely to get across the three-match series. “I wish the players every success, especially those new to the squad and those returning after a period of time away.” Former Tonbridge School pupil Crawley made his mark on the international stage against Pakistan - albeit on home soil - in 2020 when he scored a brilliant 267 in Southampton.

Margate-born fast bowler Ollie Robinson, now of Sussex, is also in England's squad while all-rounder Will Jacks is called-up after an impressive summer saw him play an integral part with bat and off-spin, helping Surrey win the County Championship Division 1 title.
