Ivan Toney Celtic transfer claim as dealmaker insists Rangers legend swung Parkhead no go

Peterborough chief Barry Fry has teased his love for Ally McCoist after he helped put the kibosh on Ivan Toney's proposed move to Celtic.

The Premiership champions were keen on the Posh top scorer but a deal could not be brokered despite the England international visiting Glasgow in the summer of 2020.

Toney joined Brentford soon after and he has been a smash hit in London with an eye-catching 64 goals in 116 games for the Bees.

Fry was extolling the virtues of the man who made his Three Lions debut against Ukraine on Sunday evening and McCoist offered a hat tip that the 26-year-old didn't head to Glasgow's east end when it appeared a deal was in the offing.
