Mohun Bagan Super Giant produced sparkling fireworks in the festive week to secure a sublime 2-0 victory against hosts Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The Mariners moved to the second place in the points table upon garnering 13 points from six games, behind top-placed Bengaluru FC (16) by only three points now.

Hyderabad FC, who were seeking a second successive triumph, are now positioned 11th in the standings with four points from the six games they have played thus far.

The Jose Molina-coached team rounded off this victory with utmost professionalism, bagging a goal each across both halves and diligently defending as per their plans to keep Hyderabad FC's fast-paced attack at bay.

One of the biggest names to have not been retained ahead of the IPL 2025 is KL Rahul. The star batter was the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants for the past few seasons. However in 2024, they failed to reach the knockout stage. West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran has been retained as the top priority player for Rs 18 crore. The team has parted ways with KL Rahul, who will now be going under the hammer in the auctions. 
Heinrich Klaasen became the highest-ever retention in Indian Premier League (IPL) history as IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad announced their list of the retained players ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. Captain Pat Cummins was also retained, alongside Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy and Travis Head. The auctions are reportedly to be held at the end of November in Saudi Arabia. As per BCCI's rule, all the ten franchises were asked to submit the final list of their retained players by Thursday, October 31. Playing under the captaincy of Australia pacer Pat Cummins, SRH finished as the first runners-up after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

Dhoni is expected to be retained by the franchise as an 'uncapped player' thanks to the new rule but the franchise are looking at a future plan. According to a report by Indian Express, India star Rishabh Pant has emerged as the top pick for CSK. The franchise is keen on buying Pant if he enters the auction pool and that is mainly the point that has governed their planning for the IPL 2025 retentions.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to retain Australian batter Travis Head and young Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy as their final two capped players ahead of the IPL auction. According to ESPNcricinfo, Head will be retained for Rs 14 crore, while Reddy will secure a deal worth Rs 6 crore. With these two key retentions, SRH have now finalized their quota of five capped players before the auction, solidifying the core team that propelled them to the IPL 2024 final. The combined value of these retentions will deduct INR 75 crore from their total purse of INR 120 crore. Previously, SRH had confirmed the retention of Heinrich Klaasen (INR 23 crore), Pat Cummins (INR 18 crore), and Abhishek Sharma (INR 14 crore). They are now eligible to use a right-to-match card to potentially re-sign one of their uncapped players during the auction.
Only two days remain for the IPL 2024 retention deadline, and rumours are flying thick and strong. One team which will be under focus is five-time champions Chennai Super Kings. There has been a lot of deliberations on who will be their No. 1 pick. The most intriguing part of their retention is whether MS Dhoni will be playing the next IPL or not. While he can be retained as an uncapped player, since he retired from international cricket over five years ago, some have said that he should be retained as a capped players.
