Reigning world champion Simran finished third on the podium with a personal best time of 24.75 seconds in what was a culmination of a journey that was fraught with obstacles right from the day she was born. The T12 classification in the Paralympics is for athletes with visual impairments.

Tokyo silver medalist Praveen Kumar broke the Asian record to claim the gold medal in the men's high jump T64 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Friday. It was a stunning effort from the 21-year-old para-athlete as he produced a season best jump of 2.08m in the final to finish ahead of USA's Derek Loccident (2.06m) and Uzbekistan's Temurbek Giyazov (2.03m). This was India's sixth gold medal at the Paris Paralympics - the highest ever in a single edition of the competition. Earlier, India's best tally came in the Tokyo Paralympics where the contingent ended up winning five gold medals.

Friday all eyes will be on athletics with several medals on offer.  Dipesh Kumar (Men's Javelin Throw F54 Final), Praveen Kumar (Men's High Jump T64 Final), Bhavanaben Ajabaji Chaudhary (Women's Javelin Throw F46 Final), Soman Rana and Hokato Hotozhe Sema (Men's Shot Put F57 Final) will be eyeing medals. In para-powerlifting, Kasthuri Rajamani will be in action in women's 67kg final.
