Five arrested after man seriously injured in horror shooting

Five people have been arrested after a 20-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting in Salford.

Emergency services descended on Aspinall Crescent, Little Hulton, at around 9.30pm on Sunday, May 26 following a 'suspected firearms discharge'. Greater Manchester Police said shots had been blasted at a house.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, was rushed to hospital from the scene with serious injuries to his shoulder.

A scene remained in place overnight and throughout Bank Holiday Monday amid ongoing investigations into the incident.

In the aftermath, some terrified residents told the Manchester Evening News how they wanted to move house as they shared fears about the rise in crime in the local area.

In an update today (Friday) detectives from Salford’s Crime Investigation Department said they have made five arrests in connection to the shooting and investigations are ongoing.

Earlier this week Greater Manchester Police confirmed that two men, both aged in their 20s, had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

In a statement released tonight, Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Humphreys of GMP’s Salford district, said: “It is extremely lucky that the victim didn’t sustain more serious injuries after the firearms discharge on Aspinall Crescent.

“We share the concern of our local residents who are rightly alarmed by the incident on Sunday, I want to reassure you that we have robust uniformed patrols in place in the area whilst we investigate.

“If you have any concerns, or want to speak to them, please do not hesitate; they are there for you.
