'I've had conversations' - Graham Potter breaks silence on Man United job amid Erik ten Hag pressure
Graham Potter has refused to comment on rumours that he held talks with Manchester United this summer as Ineos weighed up whether or not to sack Erik ten Hag.
Potter has been out of work since being dismissed by Chelsea in April 2023 but was, reportedly, among several candidates United were eyeing if they did sack Ten Hag - despite his FA Cup final success over Manchester City.
However, the 49-year-old - who was also linked with moves to Napoli and Ajax this summer gone - has refused to be drawn on speculation that saw him heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the off-season, insisting he has held talks with several clubs since leaving Stamford Bridge some 17 months ago now. "I think I am the only coach in world football who has been linked with Stoke City and Napoli in the same week, so I take what the media says with a pinch of salt." He added: "I have had lots of conversations with lots of people and I think, for the respect of everybody, it's best that I keep those conversations private." Asked if he would be interested in the Old Trafford role if it became available, a diplomatic Potter replied: "No, I'm sitting here enjoying this challenge of answering your questions.
That's where I'm at at the moment." Pressure has mounted on Ten Hag following Sunday afternoon's 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur; United's third of the Premier League season already.
