How cold it will get in Greater Manchester this week as chilly air sweeps over UK

Temperatures will drop to as low as 4C in Greater Manchester as the weather gets a 'good deal colder' this week. Met Office forecasters said a 'cold, showery airmass' will sweep over much of the country throughout this week causing a chilly snap with the mercury falling to below average for September.

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be particularly cold as the cold air sweeps over. In our region, a windy start to the morning is expected today (Tuesday) before some sunny intervals this afternoon.

Some light showers are expected with temperatures reaching a high of 15C. READ NEXT: 10 fabulous things to do in Greater Manchester in September The mercury will drop to as low as 8C overnight into Wednesday with temperatures remaining below average through much of the day.

Forecasters predict it will feel chilly for the time of year with a maximum temperature of 12C in Greater Manchester. Another chilly night is forecast overnight into Thursday with the temperature dropping to 7C.
